Toorak Road – Level Crossing Removal Project

The Toorak Road, Kooyong level crossing was removed in April 2020, with trains now travelling on the new rail bridge.

The level crossing was removed 6 months ahead of schedule, following major works starting in September 2019.

Removing the major bottleneck reduces congestion and improves safety for those travelling through the area.

New and improved walking and cycling paths have also be created as part of the project, connecting nearby parklands.

CDR provided geotechnical testing throughout both day and night works across the corridor to a number of contractors, including the principal contractor John Holland. These works required a number of contractors to work closely together within a high-profile location and to tight deadlines.
